Graphics Design : Project Problem Solving As A Graphics Designer

In this task, we were told to look at how as a graphics designer we can come and change a problem and find solutions to that problem in a graphic way.

The relationship above shows the triangle between the artist, the audience and the graphic designer that I am to solve problems that are faced. The problems are listed and solutions to those between the interaction between the audience and the artist and the ideas are built from the graphic designer.

That being informed to us, my choice of having to look into a problem was the music industry. I was to analyze the problems that artists/musicians face around their environment with their fans. How the interaction methods can be developed and made better. As music being the centre of everything that connects the artists, the audience as a whole. It was to come from this that I shall look at a way to solve a problem faced. The choice of problems would be looking at the events hosted by artists, i.e shows, concerts etc. How the artists can communicate to their fans.

The image above shows how music being the center of everything connects the artists and the audience as well as the event which are the shows and concerts held. The interaction through social media like Facebook, Twitter shows one type of connection that the artist has with their audience. Then theres the event planning and how this is done can be by posters, radio and television broadcasting to promote the show and this is all linked through each other because the audience are aware of what their artist is preparing.

Shows and concerts are normally held for artists to showcase their songs that are appreciated and loved by their fans who come for their shows. The pay a lot of money to come see their 'role model' sing their song on top of their voices. But, where is the problem here? As a graphic designer, I noticed that songs that are sometimes performed or known by fans are not performed and hence they are cut off from the performance list and hence some fans sometimes go unhappy without their favorites being performed.

Looking into that, I came up with the idea of fans selecting songs that they want performed and by that selection, the artist then gets the most voted or polled song and then puts a show on it. The idea of how Snapchat posting of videos can be shown to people by having a feed where all videos of show are broadcasted for other people who can not come to the show, another problem that can have this type of solution. With the first problem, trying to tackle it by having or building an application where when someone buys a ticket for the show will have the access to this app and on the day of the show, they will get a choice to select what songs they want performed and then the most votes from the selections of fans is what the artist will perform. So it's more interactive and gives something back to the fans in such a way that they contributed to what they came out to see. They made their show and they artist came and sealed it for them by nailing a performance that many may have traveled many distances from and saved up lots and lots of money to watch.

So looking at this from someone who does music and understands the music industry, this kind of solution can be one that can be implemented and actually be of good cause and be of good use once put into the system. My understands will definitely give their fans a lot more vibe and feeling of being closer to the artist because it's like personally asking your favorite role model to do something that you yourself would want them to do. So imagine that type of control from a lot of fans and they artists willing to give back that same energy back to them, it would such an amazing project to build on and as a graphic designer one can keep getting more ideas and better what is there then for what would be much better in the future.
